The education challenge of the new technologies

The congress was set as a scenario to promote experience systemization and an exchange of school realities in Latin America. It also allowed for spaces to promote discussion around the potential of the ITC and the need to reactivate training on ITC education innovations. There were 100 participants from 16 countries with a large number of teachers.

"The presence of teachers has been especially relevant. This congress has shown that the teachers of these schools with no information technology services a few years ago are now innovating increasingly with the ITCs and are capable of making maximum profit of a computer although many schools still have no access to internet" says Carolina Moreno from Entreculturas.
The congress has also been very useful to create a teacher network linked to education info technology which will remain on line.

The role of Entreculturas in the ITCs

Thanks to the Fe y Alegría Information Technology Education Programme that we support, these teachers have, since the beginning of 2008 a collaboration portal where they can work on-line with other teachers (www.mundoescolar.org) and with an e-learning platform (http://aulavirtual.feyalegria.org/) with access to the best on-line training.

These new possibilities open the doors to a new world of knowledge and training with which they, in turn, will be able to generate knowledge and be promoters of information technology in their own schools.
This programme directed to the most impoverished populations of Latin America, also considers providing info technology classrooms.

Jorge Cela, International Fe y Alegría Federation Coordinator, tells on how on a visit to Honduras, a community leader expressed that "Fe y Alegría has taught us to dream". To which Cela added" the new ITCs has given new wings to our dreams. They are allowing us to make an international network which would have been impossible without them".
